As Chief Executive Officer of the GISI Consulting Group, Derek leads the company’s strategic direction with a focus on technical excellence, sustainable growth, and long-term-value creation. A licensed professional engineer, he began his career in an entry level role and steadily advanced through a range of technical and leadership positions. That hands-on progression gave him a deep understanding of engineering consulting, operations, and business management from the ground up.

Over the course of his career, Derek has built and transformed businesses across a wide range of sectors, including environmental and sustainability consulting, government services, infrastructure, power, mechanical, electrical and plumbing, mining, and oil and gas. He has led large-scale operations in both publicly traded and employee-owned firms and has successfully driven performance improvement in underperforming business units.

In addition to operational leadership, Derek has played a key role in mergers and acquisitions, spearheading strategy and integration efforts that have expanded capabilities, opened new markets, and accelerated growth.

Derek holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
